We’re making a positive change at Crediton Foodbank – and we want you to be part of it.

Over the past few months, we’ve been exploring how we can better support local people facing food insecurity. As a result, we’re proud to introduce an exciting new initiative: The Pantry.

What is The Pantry?

The Pantry is a more progressive and empowering approach to food support. Rather than receiving a pre-packed emergency parcel, clients will be able to choose the items they need, in a shop-style setting, for a small financial contribution of £5.

This new model will allow us to:

  • Offer more dignity and choice to clients
  • Encourage budgeting and self-sufficiency

  • Continue providing free emergency support for anyone in crisis
  • Make our service more sustainable for the future

Why are we making this change?

While emergency food parcels remain a vital lifeline, many of our long-term clients want to take steps toward independence. The Pantry supports this transition. It also ensures that those in the greatest need continue to receive help — free of charge — without putting added pressure on our resources.

We need your voice

As we prepare to launch The Pantry, we’re asking for feedback from our supporters, volunteers, donors, and the wider Crediton community. Your thoughts matter to us — and will help shape how The Pantry works.

What happens next?

We’re currently running a short trial with a small group of clients to ensure everything works smoothly. We’ll use this time to gather feedback, make adjustments, and prepare for a full launch of The Pantry in June 2025.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns, we’d love to hear from you.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. Together, we’re building something that puts dignity, community, and compassion at the heart of everything we do.
