Volunteering

Crediton Foodbank currently have around 25 volunteers (this includes people promoting the foodbank in their community/church) who carry out a range of roles, such as;

  • picking up donations from supermarket collection bins and delivering to the FB
  • packing food parcels for clients
  • dating, sorting and stacking food to ensure good stock rotation and that food does not get wasted by going out of date
  • running the Facebook page
  • putting details of the foodbank needs in their local newsletters, parish magazines etc
  • collating and analysing data
  • being a trustee on the Board and promoting the foodbank
  • delivering food parcels to people who cannot collect
  • being involved in promotion or fundraising events
  • helping at the Supermarket Food Collection days
  • …and more!

The part-time Coordinator is the only paid role and this has only been possible since we became a registered charity. Therefore, the volunteers are key in ensuring that the Foodbank runs smoothly and effectively and we are so grateful for their dedication and commitment. Anyone wishing to volunteer at the Foodbank should email Fiona Cochran. They will then be asked to fill in an application form, provide references and any who deal directly with clients will be DBS checked to comply with our safeguarding procedures.
